hygge WHAT...?

The term hyggelig actually comes from Norwegian roots adopted by the Danes. I've been using that word in signage for show houses, my store and in the markets for over nine years! While studying architecture and design and being completely submerged in Copenhagen culture and language-- it is my favorite Danish word. It embodies an encompassing ambiance, a cozy feeling of all things good: favorite people, food, drink, candles, location...it's an evocation of both feelings and experiences. Over my ten years of Interior Design and eighteen in Visual Merchandising and Display--I strive to create tailored hygge environments. 

I'd like to not "thank"Crate and Barrel catalog for taking a beautiful word and making it cheap. Like Made in China cheap. Ugh. Okay, stepping down off my soap box! Tak!

Rusted Knob

I've been busy the last few days, primping and rearranging, adding, and hanging... 

Truly, it's a series of decisions in choosing which accessories and styles and even motifs to introduce to the boutiquette. 

So heres the first round reveal! Hope you enjoy it, I did--in the process and creation of this "look". 

I've been up to ALL GOOD

I always say, "A little junk, a little funk"!

I coined the phrase my lil' "boutiquette" vignettes. 

I think that says it all.

Specialize any space or event with a little chalkboard sign marker! Great for parties, weddings, the garden...

I can't help my love for carmel, walnut, teak and jacobean wood! I blame that on my decorator mother that dragged me furniture shopping my whole life! Now I trust her as one of my buyers!

This owl is spectacular! I love smalls...this is just a tidbit of what Rk&G  and B&H has...

This was from last night--I slammed some art up on the wall that I quick sketched while driving (I do not condone nor support distracted driving) but from years of merchandising and design--I can't help it! 
We'll see how the rest comes together. I have master plan, but the best surprises are sometimes accidents!
